Family & Relationships

Healing the brokenhearted

Research shows that family brokenness severely affects household income and child development regardless of the country in which you live. If not broken, this cycle repeats from one generation to the next. Mercy works to prevent family brokenness by providing marriage enrichment coaching and parenting skills, trauma care, and biblical discipleship training to families in at-risk communities.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

Cause Overview

We care deeply about relationships at Mercy. We want marriages and families to be strong and resilient. It is a high value of ours that those we serve would be equipped with the tools that help them thrive and grow in their relationships at home, in their churches, work, and communities.

Relationships are hard work – even the healthiest ones. Most of the people we serve are living in very high-risk, high-stress, and low-income circumstances. They have experienced abuse of different kinds, have very little support, and often have no way to provide for essential needs. This takes a toll on relationships inside and outside of the home.

Mercy is working alongside our partners to strengthen relationships, provide ongoing support, and tools for healing and healthy relationships.

Giving Hope

The emotional and relational healing workshop came at the right time in our Empowering Lives International calendar. For the last 3 years we’ve been praying and asking God for guidance on some of the NEEDS that these women have for their holistic development. HOPE as an acronym stood out for us! As we begin to see the pattern of Healing Hearts, Overcome Poverty, Pursue Christ, and Empower Others. Healing workshops are rightly fit to help these women heal from inside out and begin to mend the broken relationships, heal from the past pain of unforgiveness, hurt, anger and rejection. One of the ladies said, ” Now I have begun to understand myself, my emotions and the process of finding my emotional health”.

Local Church

In every community we serve, Mercy and our national partners prioritize connecting beneficiaries to the local church. We believe that people, marriages, and families are strengthened, supported, held accountable, sustained, and able to grow in their faith when everyone is a part of a church family.

Workshops

Each year, our goal is to provide trainers, teachers and mentors in workshop formats that support the ongoing work of our ministry partners. Some examples of workshop topics include:
  1. How to understand and communicate your thoughts, feelings, and fears.
  2. The basic steps of reconciling with God, yourself, and others.
  3. A Marriage Conference
  4. The Basics of Counseling
