Mercy is working alongside U.S. and Colombian doctors to provide medical care and supplies to the Wayuu Tribe in Colombia. This community is living in extreme poverty with very few resources to survive and no access to medical care.
Population of the Wayuu tribal community: 144,000
70% unemployment rate
40% have access to clean water; 73.3% lack adequate sanitation
53% do not have access to sustainable food
90% live below the poverty line; 28% are malnourished, facing severe health risks
The region faces frequent droughts, leading to food insecurity and health challenges
Only 43.1% of children complete secondary education
We will be providing medical care and assessments, prescriptions, medications and treatment plans for overall (long-term) improvement of health and well-being. This project will be providing hope and immediate help to tribal families who currently have no access to basic medical care and desperately need it due to the severity and harshness of the environment in which they live.
We need to raise $14,000 to be able to provide the resources and medications needed for this project! Please join us in giving hope and quality of life to those living in extreme poverty.
